The below is a request for USD faculty compensated participation in a high-impact STEM mentoring program for high school students (Response requested by Wednesday, 4/23). Thank you! This program is a high-impact STEM career engagement program for high school students to work with USD STEM faculty in the summer. Feedback from faculty regularly share how rewarding it is to work with these students, and it is an enormous benefit to the students in envisioning a career path in the STEM fields - Mater Dei students have gone on to declare majors in the STEM field in college, and we several wonderful success stories of Mater Dei students enrolling here at USD and joining the lab of the faculty mentor from their summer experience! STAR/BURST decisions have finally gone out, so I'm hoping that you may be able to take on a Mater Dei student in your lab this summer. Mentoring a student in this program comes with a stipend for your participation, as well as funding for supplies. We currently have 3 more available spots for faculty mentorships this summer. Dear Campus Community, Join us this week for the 2025 Creative Collaborations Showcase for a fun and interactive event that celebrates undergraduate research and creative works at USD! This two-day event will take place on April 8 and April 10 during Torero Hours in the Learning Commons Town Square as part of USD’s Research Month. Students will present their projects in a short presentation with six slides that automatically advance after 20 seconds (known as Pecha-Kucha-style presentations). The format allows students to present their project to a broad audience and for the audience to experience the breadth of research and creative works taking place across the many disciplines of our campus. Students who attend and sign in will receive 1 COMPASS/CONNECT/PASSPORT point. US Bank Instant Card

Hi everyone, I would like to share some information about a new payment method that USD Travel is piloting. The US Bank Instant Card is a virtual card for limited expenses during a specific time period. It can be used for infrequent business travel or infrequent expenses and has a pre-set spending limit. It does require a smartphone and installing an app. Students will need an employee sponsor. At this time, it's only for faculty, staff and students. The goal is to cut down on out of pocket expenses.
