October Web Tip: Updating Your Website
As we near the end of 2021, it is important to review and update your web presence, including any hosted documents or images. This is especially true with possibly outdated coronavirus-related documents and language that would misinform users if accessed.
What You Should Do:
Now is the time to make sure that the websites, documents and images you maintain are up-to-date and provide the correct and current information to your users.
Examples:
- Updating any coronavirus-related information for your team and department.
- Deleting documents that are older than 5 years old - or not being used on web pages.
- Deleting low quality images - especially if they are not being used.
- Making sure your links to current information and newsletters are correct.
- Reviewing and confirming contact information - so that users can still access your services and contact your staff.
Workflow Reminder:
As you begin to review and submit edits to the websites you maintain, please keep in mind that every edit goes through workflow. The workflow process allows for content review (from your team) and requires technical review by University Web Services. We strive to actively review and expedite workflows in technical review, many times a day, but please allow for a 24-hour turnaround time.
If there are urgent workflows with time-sensitive content, please submit a web request via our online web request form and we can help expedite.
