June Web Tip: Internal Linking

Over the past month, we have noticed that there have been large batches of link edits. This includes updating links, making new links entirely or reordering the links within pages. It is important to always use the Internal Link selection when linking to other pages within the sandiego.edu site - this includes all USD websites and documents within the USD websites.

External links can change - internal links can be saved!

Over the course of time, pages will be retitled or moved around within folders or sites - especially if the site is correlated with different departments or schools. When using the Internal Link selection, Cascade CMS will keep track of the page and automatically update those respective links you created. Let Cascade be your friend!

We also have a short video that reviews internal linking!

This will save you so much time once content review comes around, and will avoid complaints about broken links! In the workflow process, during Technical Review we review all links - and will send back workflows that need Internal Link corrections.

In fact, now may be a good time to revisit pages and make sure content and links are current and up to par!
