August Web Tip: A USD 2.0 Update
As more
milestones have been met, we wanted to provide an update on the "USD 2.0"
project. You can also reference our USD Website Redesign website
for the latest information on the university's ongoing digital
efforts.
Academic Redesigns
In terms
of academic
website redesigns, we have completed five sites (Kroc, CAS, Engineering, Copley, and Nursing), two are
underway (Business and SOLES), and we are about to begin Law in the next
few months.
Department Transitions
We're
also continuing our department
transitions, which involve the migration of 150 websites for
non-academic, administrative department websites to the new design. We are
now at 148 completed or underway sites, marking our progress at
over 98%.
The
remaining department sites are the Summer Intersession Office (SIO) and the
ITS websites, which are expected to be complete by the end of the
year.
Cascade Maintainer Training
Due to
the new components, features, and layout options within the new 2.0
template, there is a Cascade CMS 2.0 training that covers these topics. For
those who have already completed Cascade 1.0 training, there is a brief
"transition" training that covers the new changes. For users who would
be brand new to Cascade, we have more in-depth and complete
Cascade 2.0 training. When the site that you maintain is transitioned
to the 2.0 design, we will reach out to you and confirm your access or if
any additional training is required.
Third-Party Systems and Projects
With the
transition of the USD website nearly complete, we will be switching our
attention to third-party systems. These are products and tools such as the
USD search engine, PageUp, and other hosted systems that will be updated to
match the new branding and framework provided by the USD 2.0 design. We
will reach out to affected departments and owners as we begin this part of
the project.
