March Web Tip: How to Display Videos

We have had several questions over the past month regarding videos, especially regarding how to correctly embed videos and utliize image modules for videos. There are two options in Cascade, and a couple tricks, when wanting to display a video:

  1. Using an Image Module (Preferred Method)
  2. Embedding within a Text Module

Image Modules (preferred method)

Image modules should be the preferred method as Cascade displays these very consistently across devices. You will need an image (perhaps a screenshot of the video) but all you need for the video is the embed code source URL. While YouTube and Vimeo videos are somewhat different, you will still use the "embed" share options.

More information on image modules can be found by clicking this link.

Text Modules

Within a text module, you can select "Insert/edit media" and paste the embed code under the "Embed" tab. That is the easiest and most straightforward method and there is the option to customize the size of the video within the module - however avoid making it too small or too large, as it may display incorrectly on mobile devices.
