May Web Tip: Navigation Overview and Reminders
Over the past month, we have received several questions regarding the site navigation and the process in which the navigation is updated. In this month's web tip we wanted to help answer those questions and provide some friendly reminders as well.
Site Navigation Overview
As maintainers for USD websites, you will often need to update the top-level or side-level navigation on your websites. This includes modifying the display options for pages and links while also reordering items as necessary.
Navigation Publishing
Once you have submitted your changes (and after they have been approved in workflow), you may notice that the live website does not entirely reflect your navigation changes that same day.
This is due to the whole site needing a republish - which happens automatically every day, starting at midnight.
Please note that the publishing information above applies to all 1.0 websites. All 2.0 website navigations will automatically update once workflows are approved.
If this process has run and you are still not seeing your change live on the website, or wish to request an expedited publish, please submit a web request with the URL for the page or website.
